Civic Responsibility for Young Leaders
Civic Responsibility for Young Leaders (CRFYL) is a week-long, 35-hour immersive experience offered by the City of Atlanta’s Department of City Planning through NPU University. Created for high school students, the program cultivates civic awareness, leadership confidence, and a deeper understanding of how young people can shape their communities.
Through hands-on learning, students explore how local government works, engage with city leaders, and examine real issues impacting Atlanta neighborhoods. Participants build skills in public speaking, collaboration, critical thinking, and advocacy while taking part in interactive workshops and a mock City Council meeting.
By the end of the program, students will understand how their voices matter and how they can actively contribute to shaping their communities today and in the future.
